Data Writers for CK's Quiz Machine

Notes

• Each "data writer" below allows up to 20 questions. However, you don't need to write all 20 questions. (We suggest writing at least 10 questions. Otherwise, students may feel the quiz wasn't worth the download time.)
• The "FAST VERSIONS" are set up to allow faster writing of quizzes that do not require filling in all the possible data, since you won't have to scroll the page as much.
• You can write the same kind of "FAST" quizzes with the "FULL VERSIONS." All you need to do is leave some fields empty.

  • Multiple-choice Questions - VERY FAST VERSION
    (The "why" fields have been omitted - One extra distractor has been added.)
  • Multiple-choice Questions - FAST VERSION
    (Only "Why Correct Is Correct" Feeback)
  • Multiple-choice Questions - FULL VERSION
    (Full Feedback Possible)
  • Muliple-choice Questions with an "Unchanging" Set of Choices
    Same choices are used throughout the quiz.

Convert XML from Hot Potatoes

• Convert Multiple-Choice Questions
  • This will get the following data from the HP XML file
    • the questions
    • up to 6-choices for each question
    • the feedback statements
    • the Shuffle-Questions and the Shuffle-Choices options
  • All other data from the HP XML file will be ignored.
  • Notes I have imposed certain limitations on quizzes, so that they look good on the screen.
    • Don't include feedback statements, if you have more than 5 choices.
      • If there are more than 5 choices, one of the feedback statements will be hidden by the [ Next ] button in the quiz.
    • Don't include long feedback statements.
      • If the feedback statements are too long, they will not be completely shown.
      • (Short feedback statements are more likely to be read by students.)

After Generating the Data

• Copy the output, paste it into a text editor and edit it if necessary.
• Save it as a "text-only" file.
• Email it as an attachment to iteslj@ge.aitech.ac.jp
